چکیده

Free amino acids were determined in human aqueous, vitreous, and subretinal fluid (50 to 100 l) from individual eyes by using an ion-exchange chromatographic technique of increased sensitivity. The concentrations of amino acids in aqueous fluid from intraocular malignant melanomas were compared with those found for normal eyes, and some differences were observed. Other pathological conditions investigated were mongolism, intraocular hemangioma, uveitis, Sturge-Weber’s syndrome, and Marfan’s syndrome; only the latter two appeared to have a normal amino acid pattern. Vitreous and subretinal fluid each had a distinctive pattern, with the amino acid concentrations generally lower than in aqueous fluid, except for glu. tamine, which appeared to be of the same order of magnitude in all intraocular fluids and plasma. Postmortem and eye.bank aqueous fluids were also analyzed, and showed considerable variability from normal. The presence of an additional 28 unknown compounds was demonstrated in aqueous fluid.

Identification of amino acids in Securigera securidaca, a popular medicinal herb in Iranian folk medicine

Securigera securidaca (L.) Degen & Dorfl grows in different parts of Iran. The seeds of the species are used in Iranian folk medicine as an anti-diabetic agent. Many studies have established hypoglycemic effects of amino acids and in the present investigation, amino acids of Securigera securidaca seeds have been evaluated. The ground seeds were extracted using petroleum ether,...

High performance, ion-exchange chromatography of amino-acids in biological fluids using Chromakon 500- performance of the apparatus

The separation and quantitative measurement of aminoacids by ion-exchange chromatography has been in use for many years ]. However, the value of this method is limited by the time required for the analysis: 6 to 23 h. Other methods, such as gas chromatography, give results more rapidly, but do not allow the separation of all amino-acids [2]. The development of cation-exchange resins, capable of...

Immunoglobulin A Preparation from Human Pooled Plasma Using Plasma Fractionation and Ion Exchange Chromatography

Background: In this study we have prepared the IgA solution from normal human plasma using plasma fractionation and ion exchange chromatography. Materials and Methods: Using fractionation of plasma with cold ethanol (starting with 8% ethanol), fraction III was prepared as a suitable source for IgA preparation. Then it was treated with caprylic acid for separation of impurities. For enrichm...

Chromatography of amino acids on sulfonated polystyrene resins.

The quantitative separation of amino acids by chromatography on columns of starch has sheen described in previous publications (l-3). In extending these investigations, a systematic study has been made of the separations of amino acids by elution analysis on columns of synthetic ion exchange resins. With a sulfonated polystyrene resin, Dowex-50, it has been possible to develop a chromatographic...

Analysis of 25 underivatized amino acids in human plasma using ion-pairing reversed-phase liquid chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry.

Amino acids in biological fluids have previously been shown to be detectable using liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS) with perfluorinated acids as ion-pairing agents. To date, these studies have used precursor mass, retention time and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) to identify and quantify amino acids. While this is a potentially powerful technique, we...
